Lintel over the Window with Heads and Coat of Arms

Renaissance, second half sixteenth century

This lintel tops a large window on the piano nobile. In the centre is the coat of arms of Jaume Aguilar i Dusai with the eagle and bars, and at the sides there are busts of a man and a woman, which may well represent Jaume Aguilar and his wife Àngela Peralta. This window is part of a set of three dating from the thirteenth century, of which the central window, with its three arches resting on columns, has been preserved almost intact. The room onto which these windows open was decorated with the magnificent medieval frescoes of the Conquest of Mallorca, now in the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.
