Lintel over the Study Door

Renaissance, late fifteenth century-early sixteenth century

The door of what was originally the study is characterized by its superb Renaissance stone carving, which makes it one of the outstanding features of the building. The shield in the centre of the lintel bears an eagle and a lion, the heraldic symbols of the Aguilar-Junyent family, which was associated with the building until well into the nineteenth century. Also of note is the carved relief depicting St. Christopher carrying the infant Jesus.
