Renaissance, sixteenth century
This balcony was added to the thirteenth-century structure of the building in order to connect both ends of the piano nobile. This element of great architectural beauty, with its pointed arches rising over slender stone columns, has remained virtually unaltered over the centuries. The balcony is supported by three great stepped brackets, and the balustrade bears the coat of arms of Jaume Aguilar i Camporells (who is known to have died in 1599) and his wife Mariana Cassador, an eagle with flowers and stripes.
